Bryn Merthyr

Location: Aenoria, in the province of Ystrod.
Population: about 9.000
Leadership: contested

Bryn Merthyr has stood at the northern borders since the early days of the Imperial Cycle. According to legends it started out as a wooden fortress built by the mythical rebel queen Rhiainwen Dubh during the final years of the Ellysians’ conquest. Today it acts as the key point in the defence line against the Hillpeople. Its thick walls have seen countless sieges and battles through the years.

The city has never fallen however, even lasting through the invasion of the Chimeira. The greenskin hordes swept across the realm but couldn’t take Bryn Merthyr, instead continuing further south and leaving one army behind to continue the siege. The defenders took the invaders by surprise by launching a counter attack that wiped them out. Then the garrison marched south and attacked the unprotected rear of the greenskin armies, finally routing them after many heroic victories. The broken banners of Chimeira’s warlords are still held at the thane’s hall at Bryn Merthyr.
