Drustan magh Aenor

" Born of the lineage of kings,
a warrior without a land.
Hear these tales of old,
of last great hero of man. "
- Mac Lochann, Life and deeds of the First King

Drustan magh Aenor (c. 850-902) was the first free high king of the Cerns who has become almost a mythical character as tall tales of his many exploits have been told and written for centuries. He played a vital part in the uprising that toppled the Ellysians’ regime after the stormy days of Skyfall, gathering allies and weapons until the right moment when he was launched as the figurehead of the rebellion when his troops took control of Caern Môrn in 881. When the war was over he became the high king after the Ellysians and later the Hrods were expelled from the country. He died from an assassins’ arrow in 902, after which the land was name after him.

Drustan has become the focus of hundreds of songs and tales in which he gathers his seven companions from around the country to battle the empire, forms a friendship with the famous wizard Obeiron and slays the dragon Vornierzigarr. While many of these stories have root in reality, probably most of them are no more than fairy tales formed in the bards’ imagination.
