The Ferdiad Cycle
Various nature spirits and other strange mystical creatures of the woods are collectively known as the Fey or tylwythen. They are the most common element of folklore – just about every tree, bush, rock and riverbend is supposed to be a home for some or other fairy. The cityfolk may laugh them off, but to the majority of the rural population the Fey are an obvious part of the natural world.
Fairies have long been a subject of serious study among scholars and magic users of whom many have claimed them to be a reality. Some have speculated they are formed from white magic formed by large concentrations of trees.
